A course for juniors who have completed RYA stage 3. This course follows the RYA Youth Sailing Syllabus and works towards Stage 4.
They will learn to sail a double handed boat as a helm and crew, applying all the skills learned up to this point as well as learning new skills including enhanced rope work, recovering a man overboard, gaining a knowledge of IRPCS, synoptic charts and tidal ebb, flow, springs and neaps. Teaching takes place on the water, on land and in the classroom depending on the group and weather conditions.
Participants will need to bring along their Youth Sailing Scheme logbook but a certificate will be provided if the course is successfully completed. . Boat, wetsuit, spray top & buoyancy aid hire is included.
Pre-course requirements: RYA Stage 3, age 7 to 15.
