The K1 Fleet at Datchet is growing with active sailing members regularly competing on Sundays and during the summer on Wednesday evenings.
The K1 single-handed performance keelboat heralds a new era of single-handed sailing; combining speed, style and ease of sailing.
The slender hull has little resistance when heeled, making it quick and able to tack through a very narrow-angle. The self-tacking jib is set on a pole for maximum ease of control. The cockpit is deep and comfortable when sitting out, making hiking all the easier.
This unique dinghy has a lifting keel with bulb weighing 62 kg. Despite this, its all-up weight is little more than a conventional single-handed dinghy, with launching and recovery being just like any other.
Datchet provides the perfect sailing venue for this dinghy and the result is a boat that is great fun to sail and guaranteed to provide effortlessly fast sailing and close tactical racing.
The K1 is a joy to sail, that only gets better as the wind builds and the helm has the confidence that the boat will just roll back up with you on board and ready to sail away, letting you spend more time sailing, and less time swimming!
