We have had Louis and Rhea from Herschel Grammer School undertaking their Work Experience here at Datchet this week.
Well done to both of them.
Below is what they thought of their week here.
I came to Datchet Water Sailing club for work experience in October 2017; to begin with I wasn’t looking forward to the hours but by the end I felt privileged to have had the opportunity to work here. The staff on site are all very friendly and always provide as much assistance as required. It was a great experience and I would not hesitate to recommend the club to anyone interested in sailing.
I came to DWSC for my work experience. Though initially unsatisfied with the long hours I was due in for, I enjoyed every minute of my week here to such an extent that when I’d finished my seven hours, I didn’t want to go home. The staff here are extremely friendly yet at the same time were able to set us challenging tasks some of which I hadn’t experienced before.
Thanks to Anthony Frank for taking photos from the Committee Boat during yesterday’s racing, including this tight grouping coming up to the leeward mark
See the DWSC Facebook page for the rest of the photos
The FF AGM will be on Sunday 3rd December after racing, upstairs in the Committee Room. Top of the agenda will be the appointment of a new Fleet Captain. Please let me know if you want to stand or propose anybody – and any other agenda items.
Congratulations to Ralph and Sophie for their 3rd place overall in the RS800 Inland Championships at Grafham Water last weekend. They were the only boat to beat current 49er world champion Dylan Fletcher when they won the last race. To learn more, read the report on Yachts & Yachting website

Just a reminder that your club has the privilege of hosting the RYA London and South East Zone Championships this weekend and with an excess of 150 competitors it will be a busy weekend.
If you have a couple of hours to spare please come up and support your club hosting this event, this is also a great opportunity to attract new members.
Club racing will be taking place in the afternoon probably starting at 2:00pm and will be the standard club format of two back to back races.
Please find below the results of the 2017 Club Championships and Barts Bash.
Congratulations to Paddy Lewis and Ben Illiffe for retaining the title and to James Crossley being our new junior champion Thanks to the race officials, Mike Clapp for being a great Race Officer and to Roger Abbey-Taylor for results and Peter Morris and Chris Hulatt for providing safety.
Thanks to all competitors for the support you have given to all 18 youth sailors during the championships. Congratulations to all who took part and especially those who managed to sail all four races. You should be very proud of your achievement.
