Autumn Series Improvement Ratings

posted in: Flying Fifteens Blog | 0

The Club Autumn Series finished on Sunday with some very close racing on the water.  Two of the boats managed to get a 1st and a 4th or 5th in the two races.  This did not change the overall series positions so first are John and Helen, second are Mervyn and George and third are Mike and Peter. The prizes will be presented at the club Christmas Dinner.

Roger has now managed to calculate the Personal Handicap ratings for the series.  So the Ridgeway Consulting Trophy goes to Alastair and Jeremy.

A few notes from Roger about this calculation: –

“In each race the winning boat’s time is given the scratch rating of 1.000. All other boats’ times are divided by the scratch boat’s time to establish their ratings for that race.

“The various boats’ ratings are averaged over the series and compared with their rating from the previous series. The helm from the boat with the best improvement is the series winner and is awarded the Ridgeway Consulting Trophy.”

See you on the water soon.

posted in: Latest Club News / Blog | 0

Join in the celebration as Datchet Water Sailing Club marks its 40th birthday

It’s time to swap your winter wetsuits for party clothes and dancing shoes as the club kicks off its 40th anniversary year with a special celebration on 28 February.

The party will start straight after Sunday racing at 2pm and everyone is welcome, young and old, family and friends, as we start our year of
40-focused activities.

We have a raft of special features planned for the party. Can you sing? Can you bake? Are you a quiz ace or a party game fanatic? If so we want to hear from you now.

Plus we will hand out prizes, including the WWU and winter series winners, some brand new members’ awards and we celebrate the official opening of the fantastic new facilities in the clubhouse with special guests from Thames Water and the RYA.

So pop the date in your diary. The bar will be open and the food will be ready. Come and join us for some fun, games, entertainment, tea, cakes and, of course, party ice cream, jelly and prizes.

For more details and for news about all the forthcoming Datchet 40th Anniversary activities in 2016 take a look at the special birthday edition of the Datchat newsletter here.
