Rough Water 18th January 2007
The weather on this day was quite windy! The maximum gust seen by 13:00
GMT was 64 mph at 12:20 GMT with the 10-minute average at this time being
55 mph. The direction was between SW & W with it being mainly at WSW.
(20:00 GMT update the maximum gust recorded increased to 68 mph sometime
between 13:00 and 17:00 GMT)
Heathrow reports are available for 14:00,
15:00
& 19:00 GMT.
These reports show that the hourly average wind speed was 30mph or greater
between 05:00 GMT and 18:00 GMT.
These
strong winds caused several boats to be blown about, quick inspection
revealed that most appeared not to be tied down to either their
trolley/trailer or the ground. During the quick inspection only one boat
was seen to have damage this being a hull punctured by the cradle it was
supposed to be sitting on! Please visit the club as soon as possible to
check your boat is tied down as more strong winds are forecast.
