With a team of fully qualified and experienced RYA Instructors, we are able to offer a full range of adult courses from beginners to advanced. All courses are run using our modern fleet of dinghies.
All equipment is provided including wet suit, buoyancy aid and a water-proof spray top. Sailors will need to provide their own footwear such as sailing boots or old trainers that can get wet and swimming wear / costume.
The aim of the RYA Level 1 dinghy sailing course is to provide a sound introduction to the sport of sailing. You will learn basic boat handling skills and essential background knowledge.
With an instructor and two other students in the boat with you, learning the first steps will be an exciting and enjoyable experience.
Ideally suited to complete beginners or those that have only sailed a little.
Following on from Level 1, confident sailors will be able to demonstrate a full range of skills in a small dinghy and will have the background knowledge to launch and recover their boat, sail around a shallow triangular course, attempt gybing (under the supervision of their instructor), understand the five essentials and experience a capsize drill. Sailors will also have the knowledge of rigging their own boat, will be able to identify the various parts of their boat and sail, get themselves dressed in the correct clothing for the weather conditions and have a basic understand of the rules of the road whilst out sailing.
Following on from the RYA Level 2 Basic Skills course, this improver course seeks to bridge the gap between RYA Level 2 and the advanced modules and should make the transition easier.
You will get the opportunity to practice and consolidate your technique. You wll also get a taste of what some of the advanced modules have to offer.
Our learn to sail packages are the perfect way to “learn to sail”. You will start by taking the RYA Level 1, a two day introduction to the wonderful world of sailing. Next you can practice the skills you have learnt with four complementary half days of sailing in one of our club boats, before moving onto the RYA Level 2.
