DWSC Topper and Vibe Squad

 

With the introduction of a fleet of six new Toppers and the current fleet of Topaz Vibe, JYS is looking to establish a Topper and Vibe Squad open to all junior Club members who have achieved their RYA Stage 4, have at least one full years sailing and racing experience.

 

Following the new JYS autumn term programme, all junior Club members are encourage to join the Sunday afternoon race training sessions (Starting on Sunday 6th September 2009 at 1:30pm) to be assessed by our team of newly qualified Level 2 Race Coach Instructors.  Junior sailors who have gained their RYA Stage 4 and can demonstrate a high level of sailing skills and a good understanding of racing at Club level will be invite to join the Topper or Vibe squad for further race training.

 

Racers who wish to training in a single-handed fleet may be selected for the Topper Squad with a progression into the Laser 4.7 or Radial classes.

 

Racers who wish to training in a double-handed fleet may also be selected for the Vibe fleet with a progression into youth asymmetric classes such as the 29er or join the growing number of RS500s associated with the Club.

 

In order to maintain the high standard of the Club Toppers,  these boats may only be hired and used by qualified and experienced  who have been selected for the Topper squad or have gained their RYA Stage 4 with one years sailing experience.
