2011 Saturday Afternoon Series

Saturday Afternoon Racing debuted in 2010 and was very successful in getting people onto the water in a less formal atmosphere. The racing is for any class on a single course with varied and interesting courses. The first start is at 2pm with 3 races normally being sailed of around 25 minutes each. There will be a prize giving at the end of each of the series with prizes for the overall winner and best placed junior sailor.
This year, as part of Saturday Afternoon Racing we will debuting our new “Can Sail Can’t Race” course which will run from 30th April for 6 weeks, the 18th of June for 6 weeks and the 3rd of September for 6 weeks.
To sign up go to our ONLINE BOOKING.
This can be done in either your own boat or one of the clubs and will teach people the skills needed for racing in the morning followed by taking part in the Saturday Afternoon Racing in the Afternoon with a video debrief after the race. Can Sail Can’t Race can be done in either Dinghies or Multihulls.

Guidelines for competitors
1. Racing should be about the fun. Thus there will be no protests but if required a discussion on the rules will happen if a boat feel they have been wronged.
2. Races are often busy with a huge variety of boat speeds and participant capabilities so it is important that everyone sticks to the normal racing rules.
3. Usual 5, 4, 1, go signal format
4. One start for all.
5. Have fun Racing!
Race Officers
Races will be run under the supervision of a RYA Senior Instructor and we are always looking for race officers and people to help run the racing. If you would like to learn about how to be a race officer or help run the races please call the office on 01753 683872 or email sailing@dwsc.co.uk.
Results
The results will be published as soon after racing as possible and will also be posted on the website.
Discard rate same as other club series which is 50% + 1 to count.
