With a fleet of 4 modern Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) and 3 Rigiflex Safety Boats and a 20ft Arvor Diesel Committee boat / Cabin cruisers, we have a wide range of powerboats used for training events / courses, club safety services and event management.

 

It is in the Clubs interest to develop the Safety Boating skills of our members who will be able to provide a service to the Club events and activities as well as train potential new instructors how to safe handle and confidently manoeuvre one of the Clubs safety boats.  Therefore, we are able to offer Safety Boat training to the RYA Safety Boat standard.

 

RYA Two-Day Safety Boat Course

Free for all Club Members who commit to a minimum of one year on the safety boat roster, our Safety Boat courses provides Powerboat drivers with the practical knowledge and skill to deal with various on-the-water situations such as capsizes, inversions, towing and wind surfer rescue / recovery.

 

Using the Club fleet of safety craft and a variety of single-handed, double-handed, multi-hull and wind surfer crafts, various methods of rescue and recover will be demonstrated and practiced along with the various towing methods that can be used for the various types of boats found in the sailing club.

 

This course assumes that the participants are experienced and confident powerboat drivers who ave the knowledge and skills to demonstrate the boat handling manoeuvres and procedures required for the RYA National Powerboat Level 2 award.  If any drivers feel they would benefit from a refresher session, please contact the Club Pro for further details and to arrange a short one-on-one lesson.
