Why sail a 600?
Because they are fantastic fun.
 | If you're in the market for a performance single-handed boat, try
one. It will sell it's self. |
 | If you're a reluctant single-hander, try one. The performance is
as good as, if not better than many double-handed boats. |
 | If you want to race on a fully supported, lively, friendly
circuit, buy one. The circuit is shared with all the RS classes, is
well attended, and very friendly. |
Finally, it's not as hard as you might think, any reasonably
competent helm can learn to sail one. Nor is it as expensive as you
think, at £2,500 second hand boat is probably more competitive than a
much more expensive boat in many other classes. Old boats regularly
figure at the front of the open circuit.
Why sail it @Datchet?
Datchet is quite simply the most obvious place to sail a 600 in the
west of London area.
 | We have a fantastic piece of water, uninterrupted by breakwaters,
fishing areas, or suchlike. |
 | Large, open launching areas, easy launching. |
 | We have a thriving, established 600 fleet, many of whom are
regulars on the open circuit. |
 | We are the friendly fleet, everyone is helpful & encouraging,
it's not uncommon to see the 600's out playing on summer evenings. |
 | The club is keen to support, and grow the 600 fleet. |
"If you're not
living on the edge, you're taking up too much space."
