Club Fleets

The existing successful fleets at the club are the Laser, Contender and Flying Fifteens.  We are actively developing and supporting fleets for RS 200, RS 500’s, and a combined asymmetric fleet of 49er/RS 800 and RS700’s/Musto skiffs.  There is also an active Catamaran fleet at the club as we are one of only a few inland venues in the South East of England with the space to accommodate them. These fleets will eventually expand to provide the starts for club racing – at present some of them start together. This will only continue until the numbers become large enough to make a class start viable for the sailors.

There are now Fleet Captains for each of the 6 fleets, and the club management are co-coordinating Open meeting planning, and training/coaching days/weekends, to help the sailors of these fleets enjoy their sailing more and be more successful. Separate fleet pages for each of these classes are being developed under the links on the left, and these will provide a point of contact and information for the class. There is a crew availability page on the website, and Fleet Captains provide a “find a crew” service too.

The Boat Park is being slowly re-designated, moving the classes together to encourage “good neighbours”, social interaction and general co-operation within a fleet. When the water is low, the new winches require an element of co-operation, which is fostered by berthing the boats together.
