As you know Datchet open weekend is on the 20/21 May – if you are able to offer your services as helms to either use the club boats or your own boat to take guests out for taster sessions this would be greatly appreciated.
If you are free and able to help can you let Jon Senior or myself know your availability on either day AM or PM or even both days or a combination.
The club will keep you fed and watered and for those worried about Sunday racing you will receive average points if you help out instead of racing.
Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance

RYA Press Release
20 April 2017
Smallwood takes second Youth National title
Sailing talent Alex Smallwood from Beaconsfield secured gold, after five days of challenging racing at the 2017 RYA Youth National Championships (8-14 April). The 17-year-old took to the racetrack in the 420 class along with teammate Ross Thompson, racing against the cream of British Youth Sailing.
Over 370 young sailors from across the United Kingdom converged on the waters of Hayling Island for the premier competition in the youth sailing calendar which, for some, may yet provide a springboard into a future Olympic campaign.
Dominating the 420 fleet from the outset and securing gold with a day to spare, Alex Smallwood (Datchet Water SC) and Ross Thompson were the runaway winners.
For Smallwood, this is a second Youth Nationals title: “It feels really good to win the Youth Nationals again, it’s been a pretty challenging week and we’ve worked really hard for it.”
His crew, Thompson, added: “We really enjoyed the mix of conditions and the one really windy day, which was good fun. It’s made for really good competition.”
Topping the podium will give Smallwood a huge boost as he keeps training in preparation for a summer of international events against the best 420 sailors from around the world.
Mark Nicholls, Event Director, said: “It’s been an absolutely fantastic week at Hayling Island.
“The club and the volunteers are outstanding and have really supported a wonderful event.
“The weather has cooperated and the standard of sailing has been the highest I think I’ve ever seen. It’s been a brilliant event.”
