NoR & SI’s for the Club Championships & Barts Bash

The Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions for the Club Championships have been published on the club website http://www.dwsc.co.uk/racing-2/club-racing-2/club-series-docs/. Please look at the bottom of this page. The basic format of the day is planned as: –

  1. Briefing at 9.30 am.
  2. First Race starts at 10.30 am with a Triangular course with a gate part way up the beat.
  3. Race 2 will be sailed straight after using a Windward/Leeward course.
  4. We then intend to have a lunch break although this is subject to confirmation at the briefing.
  5. The Spring and Summer Sunday series prize giving will be during the lunch period.
  6. Race 3 will be a Trapezoid Course
  7. Race 4 will be sailed “back to back” with Race 3 and consist of a q course.
  8. All the races will be sailed on a single handicap, average lap time basis so you need to sail through the gate on every windward leg and you will be finished after the shorten course symbol is flown.

The first race of the day will also be the “Bart’s Bash” race. Please enter on their website to be counted towards this global event – and to channel your sponsorship (the main aim!)

Special Arrangements for this Sunday

The International One Metre UK National Championship is being held at Datchet this weekend (see Y&Y form guide).

The IOM racing will start early on Sunday and will pause while we launch for club racing if they are racing near a ramp.

Please park your cars away from the ramps and IOM control areas and do not launch until you hear an announcement (we want to concentrate launching to minimise any disruption).

The IOM racing may also need to pause while we are retrieving boats – please listen for any announcements after racing.

Thank you

Mervyn

Wilsons win well in Wayfarer

Andrew and Tom Wilson won the Wayfarer Eastern Area Championship at Medway in July with an impressive 4 wins and 2 second places in 6 races.  This put Andrew at the top of the Wayfarer National Circuit Series, sailing either his son Tom or with Sue Risbridger as crew

Fun in Lyme Bay

2 Datchet RS800’s travelled to Lyme Regis to enjoy some epic winds and waves for the latest round of the Magic Marine RS 800 Grand Prix series.  Ralph and Sophie Singleton finished 3rd RS800 and also 3rd in the overall handicap fleet (dodgy handicap???).  Dan Goodman and Debbie Clark scored a 4th in race 3, Debbie sailing the whole race with a black eye and streaming blood across her face from a messy capsize in race 2 (at least that was Dan’s story…).

Children welcome the Monday Club

The kids from Summer Camp 3 got off to a flying start yesterday and kept the visiting local Datchet Monday Club thoroughly entertained. As they enjoyed their afternoon tea the Monday Club found watching the children learning to sail great fun! After an action packed day the children went and chatted to the the Monday Club about all the excitement they had – a fun day for everyone involved!
