New Staff @ DWSC

As the training season gets under way we are delighted to announce the arrival of two new members of staff, Alice Armstrong and Stuart Philbey who are joining us as Senior Instructors for the summer to assist with our summer training program.

Alice comes with a wealth of experience, in 2012 she was appointed as a RYA Dinghy Sailing Coach-Assessor. She comes to us having had a very successful racing career as among other things Winning Crew at Dart Ulster Sailing Championship and in1996 the Ladies Irish National Laser Champion.

Stuart Philbey is a Senior Instructor joining us from Fairlops and King George Sailing Club. Again with extensive racing experience in many different dinghies including RS 800, RS400, laser, 420s, and RS Feva.

Please join me in welcoming them to the team at DWSC.

Thanks

Gabrielle

Sailing instructions

Following some valuable feedback over the weekend we have updated the Sunday Morning SI’s to be easier to understand. A number of us were caught out by the RO on Sunday correctly using the sailing instructions and signals however many of us had not read the SI’s and hence confusion reigned.

The SI’s are now correct on the website and I encourage you to take a look as we have some new courses introduced at the beginning of this series that will hopefully improve our racing experience.

We will have the SI’s on the notice board and draw your attention to them in the club house.

Thanks to the Race Officer on Sunday who did a great job of using one of the new courses available.

As always your feedback is always welcome.

Thanks

New Courses Available For Sunday Morning Series

Update for everyone, the new courses that were testing during the Winter Series are available for the current series and all series moving forward.

The Sailing Instructions have been updated to reflect these changes and you will see different flags flying on the committee boat to signify which course the Race Officer has set. Please read the sailing instructions on this site to make sure you are aware of these changes.

@RaceOfficers – Sorry we have not updated the Race Officer Handbook yet but I noticed that the one on the website still talks about how to start the engine on Osmo so I need to get on and update that as soon as possible.

Thanks

Sunday Afternoon Results

posted in: Latest Club News / Blog | 0

The results from this afternoon’s races have now been published to

http://www.dwsc.co.uk/results/SundayAfternoonSeries2016.htm

The wind seemed to be more consistent than in the morning. It’s a shame a few more boats didn’t turn out. What happened to all those who requested this in last year’s club survey?

Thanks go to Martin Wilson and his team for their long day on the committee boat.
