New Courses Available For Sunday Morning Series

Update for everyone, the new courses that were testing during the Winter Series are available for the current series and all series moving forward.

The Sailing Instructions have been updated to reflect these changes and you will see different flags flying on the committee boat to signify which course the Race Officer has set. Please read the sailing instructions on this site to make sure you are aware of these changes.

@RaceOfficers – Sorry we have not updated the Race Officer Handbook yet but I noticed that the one on the website still talks about how to start the engine on Osmo so I need to get on and update that as soon as possible.

Thanks

Vice Commodore

Sunday Afternoon Results

posted in: Latest Club News / Blog | 0

The results from this afternoon’s races have now been published to

http://www.dwsc.co.uk/results/SundayAfternoonSeries2016.htm

The wind seemed to be more consistent than in the morning. It’s a shame a few more boats didn’t turn out. What happened to all those who requested this in last year’s club survey?

Thanks go to Martin Wilson and his team for their long day on the committee boat.

Triumph at NSSA Inlands @ DWSC (Go Team Datchet)

2016-05-29 14.40.12-1

Last weekend saw the National Schools Sailing Association (NSSA) (https://nssa.org.uk/) Inland Championships at DWSC. Pictured above you will see some of the DWSC 20 knot Squad who entered the event. Results were outstanding for the DWSC 20 Knot Squad

Rookie Fleet
James O’donoghue 1st Overall
Kyle Bird 2nd Overall (Youngest 20 Knot Squaddie competing at only 10)
Ruari Barber-Smith 5th Overall (5th and only sailed on Sunday)

James and Kyle dominated this fleet with wins in 9 out of the 11 races

Main Topper Fleet
Daniel Chattock 6th Overall with best position 4th
Jade Goulder 11th Overall best race 6th (This was Jade’s first solo event)

Laser Radial
Sol Thornton best result was 3rd (Sol was only able to sail a few races as it is GCSE time:-()

Handicap Fleet
Will and James Taylor in their Feva were only able to sail one race

I think you will agree a great result for DWSC with some very good developing sailors that we all need to watch out for.

A special thanks goes to Sue Risbridger for all her efforts with this team and being there all weekend with coaching and encouragement.
