Bart’s Bash Update

Hi All,

Just to let you know that I have published the DWSC BB results to the Bart’s Bash Website.

Those of you who did not sign on with Bart’s Bash, please check you details and if they are wrong please let me know as I have entered them and can change them.

Thanks for supporting this event and thanks to our Race Office Phil Tinsley and his Assistant Mike Firth for giving us some good racing in challenging conditions.

Bart’s Bash This Weekend

Bart’s Bash is set to kick off this weekend’s global sailing event to promote disabled sailing

Thousands of sailors across the world are poised to take part in the third annual Bart’s Bash, THE global sailing event being held this weekend in aid of the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation (ASSF) and DWSC is part of it.

Over 330 yacht clubs and sailing venues in more over 56 countries are signed up to participate this year, in memory of Olympic Gold medallist Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson (crewing for Iain Percy in the Star class 2008 Summer Olympics, Beijing) who tragically lost his life in a sailing accident whilst out training in San Francisco Bay in 2013.

Sailors taking part in Bart’s Bash are raising funds for the Foundation whose very specific objective for 2016 is to promote awareness for, and the further development of, disabled sailing globally.

Please make sure you are part of it at Datchet Water SC this Sunday 18th September.

Bart’s Bash and Club Championships 18th September

Not long now until the Club Championships with which we are combining a sponsored race in aid of the Bart Simpson Foundation on the 18th September. The objective of the Bart Simpson Foundation is to generate the money it takes to support less fortunate youngsters coming into our sport. I am sure I do not have to stress to you how important growth in sailing is. The Barts Bash race, which will be the first race of the day, will still be part of the club champs. If you don’t want to go for personal sponsorship to raise money, there is a donation box in the club for you to put a personal donation into. We are not making this compulsory for you to race in the first race of the day however the donations all go to assisting young people to sail which is growing our sport and therefore I believe this to be an important charity for sailors like ourselves to support.

See you on the start line………
