Winter Warm Up Races 3 & 4

Over 40 boats turned out this week in what can only be called testing conditions for the second week in a row. With a blustery southerly wind averaging 21 knots and gusting over 30 the racers were in for a wild ride.

Whilst the fleet headed out across the reservoir our 3 safety boats did a good job of shepherding competitors to the starting area from where most boats stepped up to the challenge and embraced the fantastic exhilarating ride ahead.

Winter Warm Up – Week 1

Twenty Six boats braved gusts of 30 knots for the first two races of the Winter Warm Up series. Many more potential sailors observed from the safety and comfort of the club house preserving their effort for the next 3 weekends. Unfortunately those who made a hasty retreat from the cancelled sailing at Rutlands Tiger Trophy failed to make the start line on time but look forward to sailing next week.

Remember with 2 discards in the 8 race event, if you did not compete today you can still sail the 6 required races over the next 3 weekends.

Following the example of the Flying Fifteen Fleet your webmaster has started a Blog Site in order to provide a far quicker and easier way to deliver news to club members. Although the front page of the main website may look a little untidy to start with, the benefits for the office should outweigh this small inconvenience.

One small issue seems to be the way links in articles work. They are fine if you go to the full page of the blog site but do not always work from the frame on the front page of our main website. We will try to address this issue in the next few weeks.

If anyone has any comments or suggestions on this blog site please let us know.
