Laser Thames Valley Travellers Trophy at Datchet Water: 8 October 2011

posted in: Uncategorized | 0

24 Lasers, from a variety of clubs in the area, enjoyed an action packed day of 4 races back-to-back at Datchet Water Sailing Club. Chilly winds of 15 knots stayed in all day, enough to tip the odd competitor into the drink. Competition was fierce, with Caitlin Tweedle from Maidenhead SC beating her brother Cameron to take the 4.7 first place, Tristan Becket, from DWSC in only his 2nd open since moving from a Topper into Lasers, taking the Radial crown, and In the Full Rig there was a close fought battle between David Rickard of Datchet and Steve Janering of Wembley which finally ended in Steve Janering taking the crown despite both competitors recording two 1sts and two 2nds each. Race management was slick, with only a few minutes to wait between each race – as Steve said at the award presentation, it was the best turn-round he’d ever come across

4.7: 1st Caitlin Tweedle, 2nd Cameron Tweedle. (Oxford SC / RAFSA)

Radial: 1st Tristan Becket, (Datchet Water SC) 2ndCharlie Pritchard (MaidenheadSC) 3rdJack Ward (MaidenheadSC)

Full rig: 1st Steve Janering (WembleySC) 2ndDavid Rickard (Datchet Water SC) 3rdGraham Lund (AldenhamSC)

Update from members at RS Games – Wednesday 24th

Andrew Wilson WINS VAREO Class!!

Kevin & Fenella and Becky & Sam dominate mid-fleet in the 200s. ‘Dominate’ used loosely here, they’ve seen almost every result possible so far in almost any wind possible. Currently healing wounds in the WPNSA bar after 30 knot gusts and scary (according to sam…) waves.
The gossip: Fenella broke Kevin’s forestay, Becky fell out of the boat eating sweets and Kevins currently wearing makeup!

Other DWSC members spotted around the sailing academy, who all did VERY respectably:

John Kewley 100s

Andy Hatch & Alex Park 400s
Antony Mee & James Worraker 400s

Allan Fraser & Linda Fraser 500s

Antony Mee & James Penty 800s
Neil Farmer & Haley Bouma 800s

Hope we didn’t miss any of you.
