We have a busy couple of days coming up at the club this weekend. Here is what we have going on:
· An RYA Sail Measuring Class that is being held up in our Training Centre
· We welcome back the Optimists for a weekend of training with 15 boats attending.
· Powerboat Level 2 Course
· Private Tuitions on Saturday
· Club Racing Series on Sunday
· Sunday afternoon CAT Club
The wind is looking good for the weekend. The boat park tidy up continues to gain momentum so if you haven’t managed to get to your birth yet, please try and tidy up around your birth.
For members on Sunday, your Race Officer will be Simon Etter assisted by Jeremy Bennett on Safety.
Hope to see you on the water,
There has been a massive investment of time and effort to tidy the boat park.
We could really do with your help to finish off before winter arrives. We have cut the grass and brambles where we can.
Hours have been spent clearing tyres and masts and booms and untangling cutters of old ropes.
If you could please clear around your boat, litter pick and if there are any old tyres please can you take them to a local tip.
A skip will not take tyres and the blades of the tractor hate them. So much so we will be charged next time for damages.
Please bring any gardening equipment you have and black sacks for the rubbish. Together we can get this done.
I need a crew for Sunday racing – please call me on 0123 456 7890
please crew for me?

Datchet Wayfarers at the Western Championships at Poole Yacht Club
Last weekend saw two Datchet Wayfarers in attendance at the championships, on Saturday and Sunday. Unusually for a championships PYC opted for a round the cans racing using standard club racing sailing instructions on the Saturday and on the Sunday racing was part of Poole week sailing instructions, on both days default courses were set for the second race of the day with a typical Triangle and Sausage configuration. All races took place in the harbor with the usual difficulty in finding marks, and dealing with tides, and negotiating bay traffic.
Saturday was forecast for light winds but we were blessed with sun and a steady for force 3 ish. On Sunday we woke to find torrential rain, but once again the sun came out to play but with some very lively wind conditions. The weekend provided interesting and challenging sailing with varied conditions and with the usual Parkstone Y. C hospitality , the weekend could only be described as brilliant.
The racing was very close but I am pleased to report that Andrew and Tom Wilson in Phantom are now the Wayfarer Western Area champions. In second place was Angels’ Share crewed by
Derek Lambert who I have to thank for his navigation skills. In 3rd place was Martin Collens in Pieces of Eight.

Well done Andrew and Tom & Tony and Dereck !
