Datchet 20kt Squad

Datchets 20kt Squad (a name chosen by the young people of the club) was started in 2010 to teach people who have completed their Stages a chance to learn to race with their compatriots in a fun and informal setting. The 20kt Squad is a constantly evolving group for Juniors ages between 8 and 18 who have done Stage 3 or equivalent with a wide range of events and training available along with fantastic team kit.

The main sessions run on a Sunday Afternoon from 2 till 5 with beginner, intermediate and advanced and cat groups for 6 week blocks during the summer. ‘Squadder’ are welcome to use their own boats or the clubs large fleet of Toppers, Vibes, Topaz CX16s, Hobie Twixxies and Topazs and are encouraged to help each other as much as possible.

Along with these sessions 20kt Squad Sailors went to a number of events last year such as the NSSA Regatta and the Queen Mary Youth Open where 28 Datchet Juniors took part in some excellent racing. In 2011 the Squad has already taken part in the Brunel Badger team racing event where they recorded a number of victories and we hope to go to a number of Opens and Regattas though out 2011.

Please be aware that you will need to be a member of the club to take part in the 20kt Squad Sessions. This is £35 a year for anyone under the age of 18. A membership form is available here.
