There were 7 Flying Fifteens on the water last Sunday with a warm fresh breeze and a black sky. Richard and Howard led both races by a considerable margin which they put down do some experiments with rig tension. In the first race Mike and Peter squeezed past Alastair and Joe at the downwind mark and were able to follow Mervyn and George over the line for second place on corrected time.
The first race was finished in 35 minutes and so the second race started with the J flag for an extra lap. The sky was clearing but the wind speed edged up and was gusting 30 knots at the end of racing. Richard and Howard repeated their greater than 40 second lead over the line and the other boats stayed in the positions accomplished at the first mark with second place going to Mervyn and George and third to Alastair and Joe. Trevor and John were 5th in both races. Mike and Phil were forced to retire early by a bent mainsheet gooseneck pin and a dodgy knee. Roger and Eija were 6th in the second race. The wind speed and waves really picked up as we were getting the boats ashore with lots of help for each other. Great day on the water.
